Check-in
Online check-in allows passengers to check-in up to 24 hours before the flight. Alternatively, travellers can check-in using the self-service kiosk.
Curbside check-in is fast and convenient and available at about 100 US airports. Skycaps are able to check bags and print boarding passes for e-tickets. There is a small fee of $3 per checked piece of luggage for curbside check-in for most flyers. First Class, BusinessElite, Platinum, Gold and Silver Medallion flyers and those who have checked-in bags online at delta.com are exempt from this charge.
For domestic flights within the 50 US states, passengers are required to check bags at least 45 minutes before departure (60 minutes in San Juan, St. Thomas and St. Croix) and be checked-in and at the gate at least 15 minutes before departure (45 minutes in San Juan, St. Thomas and St. Croix).
Delta Shuttle check-in times are 30 minutes before departure for Boston and 15 minutes for New York LaGuardia and Washington DC.
For travel to/from Africa, Asia, Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada, Caribbean, Central America, Europe, India, Latin America, Mexico, and South America (and all other points outside the 50 US states and the District of Columbia), passengers must be checked in at least 60 minutes before scheduled departure and be at the departure gate and available for boarding at least 45 minutes before departure.
How much luggage I could carry…?
Hand luggage: Delta Airlines allows one bag , weighing no more than 18kg, and with dimensions no more than 114 linear cm (length + width + height), plus one personal item, such as an umbrella, handbag or overcoat.
Checked: one bag is permitted free of charge on domestic US flights and to the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. The bag should weigh 22.5kg or less. Exceptions are for tickets purchased in Brazil or for flights purchased in Japan for travel to/from Brazil, where the maximum weight is 32kg, or for flights to or from Key West and Marathon, Florida, when only one bag is permitted. For international flights the baggage allowance is two bags free of charge.
Excess: oversized, overweight or extra bags will be charged a fee. This ranges from $25 to $150 and is dependent on the route.

Child Fares
The fare for a lap child is approximately 10 per cent of the adult fare. If you choose to purchase a seat, the discount varies by country of origin, destination, season, and fare type.
In-flight Service
On journeys of less than 724km (450 miles) (about an hour flight), one snack item (cookies, crackers, raisins) is served. On journeys of between 724km and 2,500km (450 and 1550 miles) (between one and a half to three hours), a choice of one item from the snack basket (chips, peanuts, crackers or granola bar) is served. |
